The RZIM Summer Institute will be held at Wheaton College, located in Wheaton, Illinois. Situated 25 miles west of culturally rich Chicago, Wheaton College offers a convenient site for the Summer Institute with its close proximity to both O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway Field (MDW).
Founded in 1860 by visionary Jonathan Blanchard, Wheaton College exists today as a stronghold of Christian higher learning. Since the college’s founding, Wheaton remains true to its motto,“For Christ and His Kingdom”.
One of the many highlights of the college is the Billy Graham Center, which houses the Billy Graham Center Museum. Visitors to the museum will enjoy a unique visual overview of the history of Christian evangelism and its influence on American society. With rare artifacts and interactive displays that begin with the early history of America and climax with a powerful walk-through presentation of the Gospel message, the Museum offers a unique depiction of missions, evangelism, and contemporary Christian art.
Another unique feature of Wheaton College’s campus is The Marion E. Wade Center. The Wade Center houses a major research collection of the books and papers of seven British authors: Owen Barfield, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, Dorothy L. Sayers, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Williams. In addition, the Wade Center has a museum where such pieces as C.S. Lewis’s family wardrobe and writing desk, J.R.R. Tolkien’s desk, Pauline Baynes’s original map of Narnia, and many other memorabilia, photographs, books, and manuscripts are on display.
