How can I better understand other world religions and/or cults?
We recommend the following books for those interested in learning more about the world’s religions.
1. Winfried Corduan, Neighboring Faiths (InterVarsity Press).
2. Dean Halverson, Compact Guide to World Religions (Bethany House).
3. Stephen Neill, The Christian Faith and Other Faiths (InterVarsity Press)
4. Harold Netland, Dissonant Voices (Eerdmans).
5. Paul Copan, True for You, But Not for Me, which deals with religious pluralism and Christ's uniqueness (you can order this particular book from our ministry--770-448-6766).
Dr. Michael Brown, a converted Jew, has written a four volume series on
Judaism from a Christian perspective called “Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus”. You can find this series available on his website, http://www.icnministries.org/resources/books.htm. For information on cults, we recommend Kingdom of the Cults. The revised edition (Ravi Zacharias is the general editor) is published by Bethany House.
Also, Ravi Zacharias has written two books that deal broadly with the claims of Islam.
Jesus Among Other Gods examines the claims of Islam and other world religions in light of the exclusive claims of Christ, and
Light in the Shadow of Jihad explores the questions raised by the events of 9-11. We recommend two excellent websites for additional resources on Islam:
www.answering-islam.org contains articles by former Muslims on Islam and Christianity, and accurate and detailed information on the Quran, and
www.crescentproject.org is a Christian organization providing biblically-based, sensitive tools that help Christians share the hope of Christ with Muslims.
