This Christmas, Pay It Forward "Beautifully"
Two ways to join Wellspring International to help burn victims in India this season.
Beautiful खूबसूरत is a 124-page, hard cover, 10x12 coffee table book featuring extraordinary women in India who have been victims of burning. The causes of their burns include accidents, suicide attempts, and most prominently, domestic violence. Often, when an NGO takes photos of the people and places they labor to help, the unspoken goal is to show what has been lost. What sets this project apart is that instead of focusing on what was lost, Wellspring International sets out to capture what powerfully remains. Beautiful खूबसूरत aims to boldly engage with suffering, injustice, and violence even, yet point to an exquisite beauty that remains. With gorgeous photography by commissioned artist, Elizabeth Jones, and rich quotes interwoven through the work, each reader will encounter real women whose faces bravely speak to an inward story.
Wellspring’s Beautiful project inspired an exhibit at Still Point, the formal art gallery of RZIM. Like the book itself, the exhibition witnesses to remarkable beauty in the face of suffering. The exhibit includes the remarkable photography of Elizabeth Jones and pairs these portraits alongside the stunning work of artist Craig Hawkins. An award-winning artist who came alongside Wellspring to support our work with burn victims in India, Hawkins is offering limited edition prints of each of the works he created for the Beautiful exhibition. While supplies last, he is donating 100% of the proceeds of each print to go directly toward the construction of a fully operational surgical burn center in India. Small $85; Large $235.
