What Does the Bible Say About Gender Identity?
Gender identity has become an enormous matter of significance and confusion in our culture today. Join us as we look at the clarity the Bible can bring to these issues.
On Friday, February 15, the Zacharias Institute hosted a forum on the topic, “How Can I Know My Gender?” as part the #TrendingQuestions series.
RZIM itinerant Sam Allberry––author of Is God Anti-Gay? and 7 Myths About Singleness––spoke on understanding our present cultural moment with regard to gender identity, and considered how the Bible can bring clarity and compassion to many of the questions each of us face today.
“Gender identity has become an enormous matter of significance and confusion in our culture today. Many are wondering what it means to be a man or a woman, how we can even tell which we are, and whether these categories are even sufficient for us,” Allberry says. “The Christian faith has clarity, light, and hope to bring to these pertinent issues, grounding us in the knowledge of a loving creator and an incarnated Savior. It is important for Christians to engage with questions our culture is asking, and to be clear on what the Bible has to say about sex and gender. Our conviction is that the gospel of Jesus is good news in every area of life.”
#TrendingQuestions is a series held at the Zacharias Institute. Several times each year we bring in and livestream a speaker for an evening engaging with one of several urgent questions facing our culture. Upcoming questions in this #TrendingQuestions series include: Is Christianity a white man’s religion? Am I just my brain? Is suicide an option? What does Christianity have to say to the #MeToo generation?
